On Friday, just after 8 p.m., Honolulu police said a 19-year-old man was charged with attempted assault in the first degree after the case was conferred with the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney.

He was arrested Thursday, just before 7:30 p.m., after he turned himself in to officers at the Kāneʻohe Police Station, police said.

His bail was set at $35,000.

It comes after six juveniles were arrested in connection with an attack that occurred Saturday, May 30, at Waialēʻe Beach, commonly known as “Dead Man’s Curve.”

Detectives determined a 23-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were assaulted by multiple individuals and suffered significant injuries that required medical treatment, police said.

On Thursday, another 17-year-old turned himself in at the department’s Alapa‘i Station.

Petitions were filed in Family Court charging all six with attempted assault in the first degree.

In addition, the two 17-year-old male suspects were charged with attempted assault in the second degree, police said.

Police also arrested the five on suspicion of kidnapping, though no kidnapping charges were filed.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests are anticipated, police said.
