Volunteers help Waiahole farm recover after third flood this year
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Volunteers gathered Sunday to help a Windward Oahu farm recover from another round of severe flooding.

Cleanup began around 7 a.m. at Seguin Family Farms in Waiahōle, where volunteers worked to remove mud, rocks, branches and other debris from the property.
Crews also worked to reopen pathways and waterways damaged by the flooding.
The farm was hit after Waikāne Stream overflowed, damaging crops and infrastructure, including Saba banana plants, ti leaf and vegetable trellises.
It marks the third time the farm has flooded this year.
“You never realize… how damaging water can be,” Jordan Seguin said after the flooding.

Organizers asked volunteers to wear work clothes and boots and bring gloves, water and sun protection. Cleanup tools were also welcomed.
They said even an hour of help can make a difference.
As of Sunday morning, the family was still about $15,000 short of its fundraising goal.
“To everyone who donated, shared, reached out, checked on us, or offered a helping hand — mahalo nui loa and maraming salamat,” Seguin wrote in an update to the family’s GoFundMe page.
