UH football falls to Stanford, 37-27 in season opener

It was a hard-fought debut for the ‘Bows against a new-look Cardinal squad under first-year head coach Tevita Prichard.

Hawaii was unable to complete the comeback, down as much as 23-7, and fought back to lead late into the fourth quarter.

“I mean, coming back into the locker room, obviously we didn’t start fast, came into the locker room before we went out, you know, coach Chang just gave out a, just a speech,“ Tama Uiliata said. ”I mean all the boys, you can see in their eyes, everybody just still wanted it, you know, we have no quitters on the team.“

However, Stanford capitalized on a fumbled ball late in the fourth quarter to take back the lead and never look back.
“It only gives us film to watch, I mean, we treat every game like its own game,” Uiliata added. “So I mean we gotta go back Monday, day one, watch film, whatever we did last week, we’ve got to do more this week, obviously it wasn’t enough.”
Micah Alejado with a solid outing besides the fumble, throwing for 269 yards with two touchdowns.
It’s a quick turnaround for UH as they’re back at home next week to host UNLV.
