HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Mothers Against Drunk Driving joined HPD in efforts to intensify the fight against impaired driving.

Staff and volunteers partnered with law enforcement Saturday night in a sobriety checkpoint along Kualakai Parkway in Kapolei.

The group hopes these “Saturation Saturdays” will help reduce DUI numbers ahead of Labor Day weekend.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, sobriety checkpoints reduce drunk driving deaths by up to 20 percent.

The event works toward MADD’s larger mission to advocate for stronger laws to prevent drunk driving accidents and make roads safer.

They continue to offer free support for accident victims and youth education programs.
