James Robinson departs from Rainbow Wahine water polo team

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The University of Hawaii announced on Thursday that James Robinson is departing from the Rainbow Wahine water polo team.

The announcement states Robinson is leaving the program to pursue other professional opportunities.

UH has begun a national search to find the program’s next head coach.

Robinson spent a total of four years in Manoa with the water polo program. His first two years spent as associate head coach for then-skipper Maureen Cole.

Robinson took the reigns after Cole’s retirement in 2024 and helped UH win two Big West Championships and two bids into the NCAA tournament.

He was also named back-to-back Big West Coach of the Year.

Robinson racked up a 38-11 overall record during his tenure.

UH associate head coach Candice Vorbeck will serve as the Rainbow Wahine interim head coach.
