To address critical shortages in respiratory care and medical imaging roles, Maui Health, in partnership with the University of Hawaii Community Colleges (UHCC), is offering two new training programs in Respiratory Therapy (RT) and Radiologic Technology (Rad Tech).

Maui Health said the programs will allow students to complete most coursework and clinical training on Maui, reducing the need to relocate to Oahu — a long-standing barrier the organization said kept many Maui residents from participating.

“These programs open doors for local residents to pursue stable, well-paying health care careers, while also strengthening the pipeline of professionals who are committed to serving Maui’s community,” said Wade Ebersole, interim CEO of Maui Health.

Both RT and Rad Tech programs will be offered through UH Kapiolani Community College with a dedicated Maui cohort.

Students will complete a mix of online and in-person coursework, along with hands-on clinical training at Maui Memorial Medical Center.

Each program leads to an associate in science degree. Maui Health said prerequisites are minimal and can be completed in one to two semesters, with graduates prepared to enter the workforce in about two and a half to three years.

Learn more and apply by the Sunday deadline.

Scholarship applications are available to students after acceptance into one of the programs, and are due on June 20.
