First Alert Forecast: Breezy trades, brief passing showers for Memorial Day
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Moderate to locally strong trade winds are expected into much of the week ahead with brief passing showers, mainly for windward areas. Expect just minor fluctuations in the wind speeds.

Winds are forecast to ease up slowly approaching the weekend. We also have a First Alert for the chance of more showers in the upcoming weekend as the forecast models hint at a dissipating east Pacific front moving through the islands. We’ll keep you posted.

Surf will be a bit lower on Memorial Day for most shores. However, south shores could get a boost Tuesday and peak midweek. There’s also a First Alert for our first summertime south swell that could push waves near high surf advisory levels next weekend.
North and west shores could see above-average surf Wednesday and Thursday. East shores will remain rough from the breezy trades.

The stronger trade winds will keep a small craft advisory up for all coastal waters through at least 6 p.m. Tuesday.
