Investigation underway after firefighters extinguish basement fire in Alewa Heights
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Honolulu firefighters extinguished a fire in the basement area of a two-story residential structure in Alewa Heights on Wednesday.

The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) said they received a 911 call at 4:05 a.m. and responded to a building fire on Alewa Drive in Alewa Heights.
The first unit arrived on scene at 4:14 a.m. to find a working fire in the basement area.
Firefighters secured a water supply, initiated an offensive fire attack, and completed a search to confirm no occupants were inside.

The fire was declared under control at 4:15 a.m. and fully extinguished at 4:18 a.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates.
