49th annual Prince Lot Hula Festival honors Kamehameha V’s legacy of preserving hula
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The city is inviting the public to celebrate the 49th annual Prince Lot Hula Festival happening this weekend.

The festival will take place at the Royal Hawaiian and features hula performances, hands-on activities, and a local crafters market.
The festival is named after Prince Lot Kapuāiwa, who ruled as Kamehameha V from 1863 to 1872 and is credited with keeping hula alive.

This year’s theme, “Kapa Kai,” honors Hawaii’s shoreline ecosystem as well as community organizations that provide critical services to Kamaʻāina.

The festival begins Saturday through Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. both days.
Parking is free for three hours, and five hours is free with a $25 purchase.
The Sheraton Waikiki will offer 10 hours of free parking with a $25 purchase.
