The Hawaii Department of Transportation said the fee increase is part of a 2018 incremental rate structure agreement under the long-term parking agreement with the parking concessionaire.
HDOT said the increased fees support investment, modernization and maintenance of the airport’s parking facilities.
Improvement projects include full rehabilitation of the concrete surface on the top level of the Terminal 2 parking structure, concrete spall repairs, and electrical and drainage upgrades.

Transportation officials said the new 3,500-stall employee parking structure on Ualena Street will also begin construction soon. It will free up spots currently used for employees and allow for the planned Diamond Head extension project.
HDOT said the parking structure is in the design and environmental site assessment phase. It’s expected to be finished by 2029.
The state said parking improvements are also underway across Hawaii, with parking lot expansions at Lihue Airport, Hilo International Airport, Ellison Onizuka International Airport, and Kahului Airport expected to begin in 2028.
HDOT said real-time parking availability of the 5,924 stalls is posted online here and on the HNL Info App. It features an estimated parking cost calculator, parking maps, electric vehicle parking, charging stations, accessible parking and free cell phone waiting lots.
