Additional suspect arrested in connection to Hopaka St attempted murder investigation

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Honolulu Police Department arrested an additional suspect on Thursday in connection with the recent Hopaka St attempted murder investigation.

As the investigation continued, detectives from the Homicide and Strategic Enforcement Detail identified an additional suspect involved in an attempted murder investigation.

Through the investigation, detectives determined that after exiting a business on Hopaka Street, the suspect pointed a firearm at two victims and pulled the trigger; however, neither victim was struck.

A 24-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

EMS said crews responded shortly before 4 a.m. and transported the two men to an emergency room in critical condition after administering advanced life support measures.

On Thursday, at approximately 9 a.m., officers located, apprehended, and arrested a 19-year-old male suspect in Waiʻanae.

The suspect was arrested for attempted murder in the first degree, two counts of attempted murder in the second degree, and firearm offenses.
