Hundreds take part in annual 5K Run to prevent veteran homelessness
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hundreds of runners hit the pavement to help raise money to prevent veteran homelessness.

More than 300 participants in the third annual U.S. Vets Steps for Vets 5k Run, Walk, Roll fundraiser at Ala Moana Beach Park.
The run is a major fundraiser for the Kalehoa-based nonprofit agency.
Their primary mission is to prevent homelessness among U.S. service members once they leave the military.
“So what this does is gives us unrestricted funds to be able to pay for and do things that we don’t have additional funds to do, so this fills in the gaps,” said Tamah Lani Noh, executive director of U.S. Vets Barber’s Point.

U.S. Vets Hawaii provides a number of resources to veterans, including temporary housing and various programs to help veterans find jobs after leaving the service.
