2 boaters in distress brought to shore in waters off Maunalua Bay

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Two boaters were rescued in waters offshore of Maunalua Bay Thursday.

At around 10:20 a.m., first responders were alerted to a 13-foot boat with two people on board in distress after they encountered electrical problems and were adrift about two miles offshore.

The Honolulu Fire Department arrived on scene shortly after 10:30 a.m. and made contact with the vessel and boaters at 11 a.m.

HFD said crews then boarded the boat and rigged the disabled vessel for towing. The vessel was then brought to Maunalua Bay shortly before 11:50 a.m.
