First Alert Forecast: Light winds and warning-level south shore surf for this weekend

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Trade winds will gradually weaken throughout Friday and Saturday. Overall trade wind flow will continue throughout the weekend, but expect winds to remain light. Temperatures will remain in the mid-80s during each afternoon, but it will feel slightly warmer with the light winds.

Showers will continue to favor windward and mauka locations, yet a few showers could pop up over interior and leeward areas due to lighter winds.

A warning-level south swell will start to build in late Friday into Saturday. The wave heights are expected to peak on Sunday.

This warning-level swell will coincide with high tides, which could lead to coastal flooding in low-lying areas along the south shore.
