4.7 magnitude earthquake shakes the islands, no tsunami threat
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Some Hawaii Island residents may have felt shaking on Tuesday night.

The USGS said a magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck about 14 miles east of Papaikou just after 10:30 p.m.
The Maui Emergency Management Agency sent an alert saying a local earthquake had occurred off the North Puna Coast of the Big Island. Shaking may have been felt in some areas, but no tsunami was generated.
More than 700 people reported feeling it across Hawaii Island, with some reports coming from Maui, Molokai, and Oahu.

Scientists said the quake was not related to volcanic activity, and no damage was reported.
