2 injured after fire at elderly residential building on S. King Street
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Two people were injured in a fire at an elderly residential building on South King Street Sunday.

First responders were alerted to a fire in a unit on the seventh floor of an eight-story building on 1239 S. King St. at around 3:10 p.m.
The Honolulu Fire Department arrived on scene three minutes later and found no smoke or flames visible outside the building.
Crews found the fire on the seventh floor and searched the involved and neighboring units.

HFD extracted a man and a woman and transferred care to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services.
EMS said it treated a 71-year-old woman in serious condition with burns to her body, and a 69-year-old male for possible smoke inhalation in stable condition. Both were taken to the hospital.
Firefighters brought the fire under control shortly before 3:40 p.m.
HFD’s fire investigator was called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire and estimate the damage.
