Woman dies after overnight Nanakuli fire injures 2

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A woman who was badly burned died after two people were injured in a Nanakuli fire on Thursday.

First responders were alerted to the fire shortly after 2 a.m. at a property on Farrington Highway, near Black Rock Beach.

The Honolulu Fire Department said it was a rubbish fire involving a tent, and two people reportedly became trapped.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS) sent multiple crews to the fire.

EMS reportedly treated two patients with advanced life support.

EMS treated a 65-year-old woman for severe burns to majority of her body and multiple minor burns to other body parts.

She was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where she later died, the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) said.

A man in his 60s was also treated after suffering serious burns to his feet and minor burns to other areas of his body.

He was transported to an emergency room in serious condition.

HPD said the investigation is ongoing.
