Man found dead in flood-ravaged Wainiha after Hurricane Lowell

WAINIHA (HawaiiNewsNow) – A man has been found dead in Wainiha in an area where investigators say it experienced heavy flooding during Hurricane Lowell Friday.

According to the Kauai Police Department, at around 1 p.m., officers responded to reports of a deceased man found in the vicinity of Kuhio Highway and Wainiha Powerhouse Road.

Police identified him as a 59-year-old man from Wainiha. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death, but foul play is not suspected, police said.
