UH women’s soccer moves Kansas State match ahead of Tropical Storm Lala
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – While severe weather is canceling many events across the state this weekend, the University of Hawaii women’s soccer match against Kansas State is still scheduled to play.
Officials have decided to move the matchup up by one day.
The Rainbow Wahine will play Saturday at 12:30 p.m. instead of their originally scheduled Sunday afternoon slot.
Lala is currently forecast to pass south of Oahu Saturday night into Sunday as a tropical storm.
“Number one thing all the time is safety and the student-athlete well-being,” said UH head coach Michele Nagamine. “We want to do our part to be responsible, and moving the game up to Saturday is absolutely the right thing to do.”
The decision followed conversations between UH officials, the visiting teams, and Hawaii News Now.

Safety remained top of mind for all parties involved, especially the student-athletes.
“I think with all of our visiting teams, the number-one thing for them is getting the game in,” said Nagamine. “They want to keep people safe, but they don’t want to lose a game, so playing on Saturday gives us our best opportunity to get two games in this weekend.”
UH will host Kansas State at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Live broadcast coverage begins starting at noon with the pregame show on K5.
