PMRF gives all clear after Hurricane Lowell, recovery work continues

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Pacific Missile Range Facility has given the all clear following Hurricane Lowell.

Officials said the designation came after initial storm response and safety assessments were completed across the installation.

PMRF personnel inspected infrastructure, essential services and overall operating conditions before reopening the installation to personnel.

“Recovery actions are ongoing, and we will continue to assess infrastructure and installation conditions as we work toward safely resuming normal operations,” PMRF commanding officer Capt. Robert Prince said.

Power is still being restored in phases, and crews are working to address roof and structural damage, impacted workstations, fallen trees and other damage to equipment and infrastructure.

Some services remain unavailable.

The Child Development Center, Shenanigans restaurant, recreational facilities and guest pass access remain closed. Main gate access is limited to base personnel and housing residents.

Emergency support services are also available for affected service members, civilian personnel and families.

PMRF said damage assessments and restoration efforts remain ongoing.
