Tiffany Chou, co-owner of Depo Market, along with her brother Christian Chou and employees Nathan Rosberg and Juliet Warren, joined Hawaii News Now Sunrise to talk about their business and how it’s shaped their lives.
The business was inspired by Tiffany Chou’s search for a job for her brother, who has autism. With few job opportunities for adults like him, she began selling his handmade jewelry at pop up events.
“I became my brother’s primary caregiver, and I learned pretty quickly it’s really hard filling another person’s day when typical things like maybe college or a job aren’t available, right?” Chou said. “And so we basically started our own business so that people like Chris, who are in the exact same situation, trying to find something to do every day for the rest of their lives.”
After seeing the success that Christian’s small jewelry table had after two years, she had the idea to grow the table into a larger project that could help more people like her brother.

“My background is in jewelry, and Chris also makes jewelry, so we started selling Chris’s jewelry at pop-ups,” Chou said. “And then that expanded because not everyone is able to make jewelry. So Nathan also helps us make our bags, and Jules is the, you know, life of the party and the DJ of the store. So she loves, loves, loves meeting new people. And everybody is able to do the register by themselves. And so we have different niches for everybody that they can do.”
Depo Market’s mission is to provide as many jobs for adults with disabilities as possible, ranging from artistic employment helping to create jewelry and accessories, as well as customer service jobs working with and talking to customers.
They sell everything from jewelry to stickers.
Depo Market is located on 2008 Main St, Wailuku and is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
