Lanes reopened on Moanalua Freeway following afternoon 3-vehicle crash

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A three-vehicle accident temporarily closed three lanes on Moanalua Freeway near the Kahuapaani Overpass Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened shortly before 1 p.m. near the Kahuapaani Overpass.

The Hawaii Department of Transportation said three lanes on the Moanalua Freeway were blocked by Exit 1C, at the Halawa interchange.

Witnesses told Hawaii News Now a black SUV got stuck on the freeway median after allegedly being rear-ended.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said one person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Honolulu police said lanes were reopened at 2:15 p.m. after all vehicles had been towed.
