LANAI (HawaiiNewsNow) – Kaumalapau Harbor on Lanai is currently inoperable following damage caused by Hurricane Lowell, state officials announced Tuesday morning.

The Hawaii Department of Transportation reported that as of 9 a.m. the harbor was closed and out of service due to storm conditions.
Additional HDOT staff are scheduled to arrive at the harbor Tuesday afternoon to conduct a full assessment of the facility.

State officials said they will provide an update on the estimated restoration schedule and outline any alternate cargo delivery plans once the afternoon inspection is complete.
