4 West Maui public schools closed Tuesday for poor road conditions
KAHULUI (HawaiiNewsNow) – Four Hawaii state public schools in West Maui will be closed Tuesday, Sept. 8, due to unsafe road conditions along Honoapiilani Highway, in the Olowalu area.
The following schools will be closed Tuesday:
Officials announced the closures Tuesday morning, after Hurricane Lowell partially blocked the highway with high surf and debris, causing dangerous conditions for drivers.
Schools are notifying staff and families directly, according to the state Department of Education.

All public schools and offices on Oahu and Kauai will also be closed Tuesday due to storm impacts.
