Kauai water officials urge islandwide conservation amid recovery

KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) – Kauai water officials are urging customers across the island to conserve water until further notice.

The Department of Water said its pumps are currently running on emergency-powered generators.

Officials are asking customers to limit water use to essential needs, including cooking, drinking, personal hygiene, laundry and sanitation, to help prevent an outage.

Residents are also being asked to turn off fixtures and equipment that automatically use water, including irrigation systems and ice machines.

The conservation notice will remain in effect until officials lift it.
