Hilo murder suspect remains unfit to proceed, committed to state hospital
HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) – A man accused of killing his grandparents will remain committed to the Hawaii State Hospital after a judge ruled he remains unfit to stand trial.

Court minutes from an Aug. 27 review hearing show Joshua Ho, who is accused of killing his grandparents, Jeffrey and Carla Takamine, at a Panaewa home in January 2023, has been hospitalized since Feb. 7, 2023.

Ho’s attorney did not object to the hospital’s request for a continuance, and the court ordered that his status as unfit and committed remain unchanged.

The criminal case will remain paused unless his competency status changes.
His next review hearing is scheduled for Dec. 17.
