Half-acre wildland fire near Kuihelani Hwy contained by firefighters
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Maui firefighters responded to a wildland fire in the brush between Waiko Rd and Kuihelani Highway on Tuesday.

Firefighters arrived around 7 p.m. and navigated the difficult access to the area.
Once access to the fire was established, firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire, with it fully extinguished at 8:50 p.m.

One man working in a workshop in the area suffered from smoke inhalation and was treated by Emergency Medical Services on scene.
The cause of the fire is undetermined, and officials said the fire burned roughly half an acre of brush.

No damages were reported.
