Ex-soldier found guilty of murder in 2020 stabbing deaths of girlfriend, infant son
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – An Oahu jury found former Schofield soldier Kendall Ramsey, 28, guilty of first-degree murder for the 2020 stabbing deaths of his girlfriend and their 6-month-old son.

Kayla Holder, 23 at the time of her death, and son, Kainoa Ramsey, were found stabbed to death in their Sun Rise apartment unit in Ewa Beach.
“Kayla Holder and her infant son should still be alive. This was an extraordinarily brutal act of domestic violence that took two innocent lives and forever devastated those who loved them,” said Honolulu Prosecutor Steve Alm. “We hope these verdicts provide some measure of justice for Kayla, her son, and their family.”
Ramsey was also convicted of attempted assault in the first degree.
Prosecutors said Ramsey drove on the wrong side of Kunia Road directly toward an oncoming vehicle hours after the murders. He hit the vehicle while the other driver tried to avoid a collision, officials said.

Ramsey remains in custody at the Oahu Community Correctional Center without bail and will be sentenced on Nov. 18.
He faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
Prosecutors said the jury found the state provided enough evidence to support an extended prison term, which the judge will decide at sentencing.
