City officials urge driving with caution following Tropical Storm Lala

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Honolulu officials are urging drivers and pedestrians to use caution as cleanup continues following Tropical Storm Lala.

The city said widespread power outages have left some traffic signals, street lights and tunnel lights out across Oahu.

Drivers should treat non-functioning traffic signals as all-way stops and watch for crews clearing debris, downed trees and power lines.

Officials said heavier traffic and longer travel times are being reported in Waikiki, Ewa Beach and Waianae because of non-functioning traffic signals.

Motorists are also reminded to move over for emergency vehicles with sirens activated and follow directions from Honolulu police officers.

Pedestrians should look in all directions before crossing streets.

The city is also warning people to stay away from downed power lines and call 911 to report them.

Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and use caution while conditions continue to improve.
