Acclaimed Chef Vikram Garg joined Hawaii News Now Sunrise Weekends to share details about his newest venture, TERNS, and the inspiration behind the space.

Inspired by the Manu-o-Ku (the white tern)— a symbol of international peace, goodwill, and exploration—the venue takes over the Halekulani Bakery terrace. The open-air space pairs contemporary American and global flavors from land and sea with a bespoke rhum bar and curated beverage offerings under the stars.

The menu highlights elevated, shareable plates alongside inventive takes on local and global favorites, ranging from hamachi ceviche and beef tartare to ʻahi poke served inside crispy pani puri. Guests will also find naan bread pizzas, chips served with dips like avocado and smoked ʻahi, and hearty entrees including loco moco, fish & chips, and udon Bolognese.

In addition to TERNS, Garg recently launched Masala Maya, a scratch-made Indian takeout and delivery concept featuring slow-simmered dishes such as Goan shrimp curry, chicken curry, pork vindaloo, and lamb shank Rogan Josh. Guests dining in at TERNS can also order and enjoy the curries on the terrace.

Validated self-parking is available in the Halekulani parking garage, along with valet parking at either Halepuna Waikiki or Halekulani.

Terns is open Wednesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. For more information visit TERNSHAWAII.com or follow their Instagram.
