Gov. Josh Green signed a supplemental emergency proclamation Tuesday waiving penalties and extending renewal deadlines through Nov. 21.

The relief applies to driver’s licenses, permits and state IDs that expired while residents were unable to renew them because of the closure.

It does not apply to licenses or permits that are suspended, revoked or otherwise invalid.

Driver’s license and state ID transactions on Kauai remain on hold while the county works to restore its connection to the state’s mainframe.

County officials said there is no firm date yet for when those transactions will resume.

Residents do not need to travel to another island. DMV staff can be reached at 808-241-1949 and are also available at a mobile trailer in the Lihue Civic Center parking lot and at the Kapaa Armory on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The relief is part of broader emergency measures following Hurricane Lowell and the Sept. 9 Kapule Building fire, which also include certain permit, debris disposal and property record fee waivers.
