Aloha United Way kicks off 2026 Workplace Giving Campaign

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Aloha United Way kicked off its 2026 Workplace Giving Campaign Wednesday in downtown Honolulu, bringing together businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders.

Hundreds of people turned out for the event, which featured a performance by the Royal Hawaiian Band and highlighted the organization’s work supporting families across the state.

Michelle Bartell, president and CEO of Aloha United Way, said the organization expected about 500 people to attend, but the crowd quickly grew beyond that.

“We’re so excited because the community always comes out and responds,” Bartell said.

This year’s campaign aims to raise $9 million.

City leaders also joined the kickoff, including Andy Sugg, chief of staff for Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi.

Sugg said support is especially important this year as communities continue recovering from the recent severe weather, including Hurricane Lala.

“There are so many people in need,” Sugg said. “It doesn’t take much for folks who are fortunate like us, who maybe weren’t as impacted as others, to give a little extra this year to take care of our friends and family all over the islands.”

Aloha United Way works with businesses and nonprofit partners through workplace giving campaigns to raise money for community programs and services.
