Motorcyclist critically injured after crashing into stalled vehicle on H-1 near Waimalu

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A motorcyclist is fighting for his life after a crash on the H-1 Freeway Saturday night.

First responders were called to the eastbound lanes near Moanalua Road overpass and Waimalu exit just before 9:40 p.m.

Police said a 31-year-old male motorcyclist was travelling eastbound when he rear ended a 39-year-old male motorist with three juvenile female passengers, who were stalled in the left lane.

The 31-year-old motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown onto the roadway.

Emergency Medical Services transported him to an area hospital in critical condition.

The 39 year-old motorist and two of the juvenile passengers were not injured.

One juvenile reported minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene.

The crash caused heavy traffic near Moanalua Road and the Waimalu exit for several hours Saturday night.

An investigation is ongoing, and police do not yet know if speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factor of the crash.
