Firefighters extinguish Waipahu home engulfed in flames

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Two people were treated for injuries after a fire tore through a single-story home in Waipahu Tuesday night.

The Honolulu Fire Department responded to reports of a building fire at 94-447 Kahualei Pl. in Waipahu shortly after 10 p.m.

Firefighters reportedly were able to see smoke and flames in the distance as they drove to the scene.

The home was fully-engulfed in flames when the first crews arrived, according to HFD.

Firefighters searched the residence and confirmed that there were no occupants inside by the time they arrived.

The fire was brought under control by 10:41 p.m., and fully extinguished at 11:22 p.m.

A neighboring residence on the left side of the engulfed home sustained light fire damage.

EMS treated two people. No additional details were given about their injuries.

All HFD personnel were accounted for and uninjured.

The American Red Cross has been notified to help the now displaced occupants of the burned home.

An investigation into the fire’s origin, cause, and estimated damage was requested.
