1 dead, 1 critically injured in rollover crash in McCully

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Honolulu Police Department is investigating a rollover crash that killed a 26-year-old woman and critically injured a 25-year-old woman in McCully late Tuesday night.

According to police, the 26-year-old was driving along Bingham Street when her vehicle sideswiped a parked car, causing it to overturn at about 11:50 p.m.

Both women were treated by Emergency Medical Services and were taken to a hospital in critical condition, where the driver later died.

Four people were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, including a 1-year-old child. EMS officials said the child and another 25-year-old woman were evaluated at the scene but did not need further treatment.

The Honolulu Fire Department used hydraulic rescue tools to free two people from the vehicle. The others were able to escape after rescue crews stabilized the car.

HPD said the impact of the collision pushed the parked car into another vehicle and a fire hydrant. No one was inside either parked vehicle.

At this time, police said it is unclear whether speed, alcohol, or drugs were factors in the crash.

HPD said the child and the 26-year-old woman were wearing seat belts, but the others were not.

This is the 26th traffic fatality of the year on Oahu, compared to 59 at the same time last year.
