Pump failure interrupts water service for 200 Haiku residents

WAILUKU (HawaiiNewsNow) – About 200 residents in Ha’iku have had low to no water pressure since Sunday, according to the Maui County Department of Water Supply.

Customers in the West Kuiaha and Awalau areas are affected.

DWS says a well is out of service due to major electrical issues impacting the pump. It is not known when repairs can be completed.

Drinking water tanks have been placed at the following locations for affected residents:

• West Kuiaha Road: Three tanks (1050 W. Kuiaha, 1436 W. Kuiaha and 1860 W. Kuiaha roads)

• East Kuiaha Road: Two tanks (365 E. Kuiaha and 700 E. Kuiaha roads)

• Pakanu Street: One tank (650 Pakanu St.)

• Peʻahi Road: One tank (185 Peʻahi Road)

• Hahana Road: One tank (bottom of Hahana Road, off Hāna Highway)

• Holokai Road: One tank (bottom of Holokai Road, off Hāna Highway)
