Statehood Day 2026: What’s open and closed Friday in Hawaii
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii counties are reminding residents of closures and modified service schedules in effect on Friday for Statehood Day.

Statehood Day in Hawaii marks the state’s admission into the U.S. in 1959. At the time, 93 percent of Hawaii voters supported statehood, newspapers proclaimed it in bold headlines, and people celebrated in the streets.
Public schools and state offices will be closed statewide in observance of the holiday.
