UH’s Reid named to Mountain West preseason team

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team is set to join the Mountain West Conference this season.

On Wednesday, the conference released it’s preseason ranking and All-Mountain West team.

UH outside hitter Cha’lei Reid was the lone Hawaii representative on the preseason team.

The Kahuku graduate enters her sophomore season after putting up 335 kills, the first freshman since 2019 to lead the team in kills.

Reid was also named to the Big West All-Freshman team and an All-Big West honorable mention.

As a team, Hawaii was predicted to finish fifth in the league preseason poll with UTEP predicted to finish first.

UH officially begin the season on August 28th, taking on Georgia Southern in the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic.
