2 arrested in connection to Kakaako shooting, third suspect wanted

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Kakaako.

The shooting happened Sunday, May 17, around 2:10 a.m. near Ilaniwai Street and Ward Avenue.

Police said officers initially responded after reports of multiple gunshots and a large disturbance in the area.

A 23-year-old man later arrived at a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds.

According to investigators, a large fight broke out after patrons and employees exited The Gatsby bar. Detectives said three people then fired into a crowd, striking the victim.

Police identified the suspected shooters as an 18-year-old, a 23-year-old and Trey Samoa, 32.

On Wednesday, detectives arrested the 18- and 23-year-olds on suspicion of first-degree attempted murder and firearm offenses.

Police said Samoa has not been arrested and remains wanted.
