Tiger shark spotted off Kakaako Waterfront

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A shark was seen near a popular South Shore surf break Monday afternoon.

The Honolulu Ocean Safety Department has confirmed that an aggressive eight-foot tiger shark was seen around Flies surf zone, in the waters off the Kakaako Waterfront area.

A shark warning was issued shortly after 12:30 p.m.

Warning signs have been posted nearby for beachgoers.

Anyone who sees or encounters a shark is asked to notify Ocean Safety personnel or call 911 immediately.
