First Alert Forecast: Locally breezy trades, mostly dry Sunday

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Locally breezy trade winds are expected for Sunday with only isolated showers for windward and mauka areas.

No significant rainmakers are anticipated in the coming week, although we may have a return to more typical trade wind shower activity around Tuesday and Wednesday.

We are monitoring some areas of potential tropical development off Mexico in the far eastern North Pacific. Forecast models keep them away from the state, but there is a small potential that we could get some kind of impact in about a week and-a-half. Just keeping you in the loop as a reminder to be prepared this hurricane season.

In surf, a moderate south swell is expected to start building Sunday, with south shore waves near high surf advisory levels Monday into Tuesday, with some swell energy reaching exposed west shores.

East shore waves will decline as the trade winds ease. North shores will decline to nearly flat levels by Sunday afternoon.
