Moped rider critically injured after crash in Maili
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A moped rider is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle in Maili Friday evening.

The crash happened at around 11 p.m. near the intersection of Farrington Highway and Kaukamana Street.
According to the Honolulu Police Department, a female driver, 44, and her female passenger, 28, were reportedly traveling east on Farrington Highway when the driver turned left onto Kaukamana Street and allegedly hit a 41-year-old male moped rider headed west on the highway with no illuminated headlights.

The moped rider was ejected onto the roadway.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Service said paramedics and emergency medical technicians treated the man for multiple severe injuries and took him to the hospital in critical condition.
The driver and passenger of the vehicle were uninjured and remained on scene.
Police said the moped rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The investigation is ongoing, and HPD said it is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol are a contributing factor in the crash.
