Hawaii listed as worst state to do business by CNBC
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii is the worst state to do business in, according to new rankings from CNBC.

All 50 states were scored in 10 broad categories for the “America’s Top States for Business 2026″ rankings. Hawaii fell one spot from last year to number 50 overall. Alaska came in at 49.
Ohio topped of the list, followed by North Carolina.
The Chamber of Commerce Hawaii says the data validates the priorities the Chamber outlined in its 2030 Blueprint for Hawaii. Hawaii’s worst areas were in infrastructure (50), cost of doing business (50), and technology and innovation (49).

The state’s best rankings were in quality of life (6), economy (24), and education (34).
