First Alert Forecast: More trade showers for Sunday and again midweek

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Breezy trade winds will blow across the islands through the first half of the coming week. Some areas of increased showers will also move across the state overnight Saturday into Sunday morning.

Another round of enhanced showers is possible again Tuesday through Wednesday and into Thursday morning. Trade winds also will ease slightly during this time. Most of the showers should remain focused on windward and mauka areas.

In surf, a small to moderate southwest swell will fill in Sunday into Monday, boosting south shore waves a bit. West shores will get some of that swell energy. East shore surf will remain rough and choppy from the strong trade winds, while north shores will be mostly flat.

A small craft advisory for strong winds remains in effect for all Hawaiian coastal waters. Higher than normal tides could also cause minor coastal flooding during the peak afternoon high tides Sunday through Wednesday.
