HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The suspect in a terrifying airport carjacking that happened Wednesday evening has been charged.

Garrett Spencer, 25, was charged with first-degree theft and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.
Spencer is accused of carjacking a vehicle, with a teenage girl still in the back seat, at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.

Authorities said Spencer was not charged with kidnapping because he let the young teen go once he noticed she was in the stolen car.

His bail was set at $50,000.
