Police host Hilo gun buyback event
HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Hawaii Police Department is hosting a gun buyback event next Saturday, July 18, at the Hilo police station.

In exchange for surrendering firearms, police will be giving out gift cards.
Firearms must be unloaded, put in a safe container, and placed in the trunk of the car.

$100 gift cards will be given for handguns, rifles, shotguns, and Glock switches.

$200 gift cards will be given for assault-type rifles and ghost guns.
Ammunition will not be accepted.
Police say the process can be anonymous, with no questions asked.
