Motorcycle crash marks Oahu’s 21st traffic fatality of 2026, teen identified

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – An 18-year-old motorcyclist died after crashing in Kapolei late Tuesday night.

Police said the crash happened at about 10:59 p.m. on the eastbound Kalaeloa Boulevard off-ramp when 18-year-old Gabriel Gonzales of Texas, lost control of the motorcycle and struck a concrete barrier.

He was ejected onto the roadway and taken by Emergency Medical Services to a hospital in serious condition, where he later died.

Police said the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Investigators believe speed was a contributing factor. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role.

The crash marks Oahu’s 21st traffic fatality of 2026, compared with 39 at the same time last year.
