E-motorcycle rider in critical condition after Waialae Avenue crash

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A 33-year-old e-motorcycle rider is in critical condition after he was hit by a vehicle in Kaimuki Tuesday morning.

The collision happened just before 6:30 a.m. on Waialae Avenue.

According to the Honolulu Police Department, a vehicle was attempting to make a left turn into the McDonald’s near Palolo Avenue when it broadsided the e-motorcyclist who was in the center lane.

Police say the rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Officers temporarily closed Waialae Avenue in both directions while emergency responders worked to clear the scene and transport the injured rider to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

The road has since reopened for traffic.
