Former city employee pleads not guilty in alleged $800K Hawaii Foodbank fraud
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A former city employee accused of stealing from the Hawaii Food Bank appeared in court for his arraignment Monday morning.

Dexter Kishida pleaded not guilty to charges of theft, forgery, and misconduct.
Prosecutors say when Kishida managed Honolulu’s Food Security and Sustainability Program during the pandemic, he allegedly got the Food Bank to buy and distribute $800,000 dollars of food by claiming the non-profit would be reimbursed.

The state says Kishida made a bogus purchase order and fabricated emails to carry out the alleged scheme.

He is due back in court in August.
