20 paddlers rescued after canoes overturn off Hanauma Bay
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Twenty paddlers were rescued after several canoes overturned in rough waters off Hanauma Bay on Friday morning.

The Honolulu Fire Department received a 911 call at 9:17 a.m. reporting a boater in distress about one mile offshore.
When firefighters arrived, they confirmed one overturned canoe with six paddlers in the water. Officials later determined three canoes had capsized after encountering rough sea conditions.

Honolulu Ocean Safety personnel, firefighters and nearby boaters helped bring all 20 paddlers safely back to shore.
After everyone was accounted for, HFD’s Air 1 helicopter located the overturned canoes, which were then towed back to shore by rescue crews and a nearby vessel.

No injuries were reported.
